But is it more fuel efficient? I have a 4spd, and a 5spd trans to put in, but didn't want to sacrifice my 38 mpg.

it may or may not be. If you live where i do (Pa) the people with a 5 speed actually do better because they can have the car in a better gear climbing hills/mountains. I mean use less throttle because of correct gearing. other places maybe not? just my 2 pennies.

Plenty of people with 5 speeds get this type of mpg...

I believe the 5 spd gives you better fuel efficiency for interstate speeds over 55 because the fith gear lowers the rpms.

5 speed - 37 MPG City/42 MPG Hwy For me. I did a few lil mods yesterday to try to improve mileage. Hopefully it works.

We swapped a 5spd in my buddys hatch - not the biggest difference, not fast by any means, but its better than trying to make a 4spd a fast car.

I've got a 5spd Tiptronic in my Audi.

And a 5 spd in my ED Sedan - slow as fvck

I noticed marked improvement over my tranny going from shot DX to Si trans in my CRX. We won't even talk about HF - DX

How do I swap in a 6th gear into a 1982 CCVC transmission?

Oh wait, you have a k20, that was from 1983 right? With the custom one off Moogan pieces?

hehe good find. 5spd FTW.

you cant count out the 4spd, its possible in certain racing conditions, drag racing to be exact, that with the right power, and tire size, the 4 spd gearing maybe the right choice. so its not totally useless.
