i got a 99 prelude from a dealer which it has freakn 207k miles! i wanted the car badly so i bought it. did tune ups and such. the car ran fine for a month but just dies or tends to while driving 15min. from parked once in a while when i switch it back to neutral.

anyway, the real problem showed up, i was driving my car. got into the freeway, all was good till i noticed a rough feeling when stepping harder on gas. after a few min. i started to lose power and muffler started to sound like a boat. im aware that could be head gaket or piston rings.

-car still has oil
-car didnt have coolant on oil
-car didnt overheat after a long drive home
-checked spark plugs, on hole #2 from L to R had very lil burnt oil or somethin black, then the rest looked pretty normal, some said im running rich too

sucks so bad, and i need help bad

 

Check your timing belt. That means taking off the valve cover and maybe the timing belt covers if you need to.

 

did u notice any smoke out the exhaust or anything

 

my friend was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden his engine was still running but when more gas was applied, there was no power and so he pulled over to the side and as he did, his car died. turns out he had a snapped timing belt i guess. and it sounds like urs is on the verge of snapping also. if not than i would check to make sure ur starter isn't loose and also check the ignition coil and ignition switch

 

unfortunately, i saw grey/whitish smoke came out from the exhaust when i pumped gas at the gas station (huge smoke) then drove it back to my house, when i get to a stop, i have to step on the gas a lil bit so it wont die, then i just adjusted my cable to higher. No sign of overheating and coolant on oil so atleast im still on track.
today, i started it back up just for a min. and it starts normal, ofcourse with the boat sound and feeling still.

Ill check timing, ignition and starter then, anything else to be added to my list pls do so.

any CELs?

 

nothing came up, i even unplugged one sensor i think its a IAT and no CEL came up, on my civic it'll throw CEL right away. so i think theres something funky about it, ill check my gage probably the stupid dealer took the light out or somethn so it'll sell

I bet you're right
