H22 N/A project
Im making this thread to help a friend down here in Puerto Rico. He has a 1999 Honda Prelude H22 stock. He bought this week a set of JE 12.0:1 pistons, JG spring and retarner kit, Skunk 2 stage 2 cams, intake manifold, AEM V2 cold air intake, DC sports header, ARP studs and cometic head gasket. He wanst to know what ECu he needs, Hondata? is there any other cheap options?
Also what size of exaust do you recomend? we will be building a mandrel bend custom exhaust. We dont know how much HP we can get out of these pistons and cams combination, do we neeed bigger injectors? is fuel pressure regulator needed? What other parts do we need to complete this mild street proyect?

Is his block sleeved? Because you can't run forged pistons in the H22 without sleeving. I don't think 12.0:1 compression is "mild" either.
As for engine management, Hondata or Crome will work fine. IIRC, Crome is the cheaper alternative. Bigger injectors and a fuel pressure regulator are always good on engine builds. You don't wanna max out your duty cycle during tuning.
For the exhaust, just go 2.5 inch. As for the DC header, it's kinda junk as it is. You can either do the 2.5 inch collector mod, or you can get something better, like an RMF or an SMSP header.
All in all, I suggest your friend do some more research before getting into something serious.

why the engine has to be sleved when using forged pistons?</TD></TR></TABLE>
The H22 has to be sleeved because the cylinder walls are made of FRM. If you try to run forged pistons without sleeving, you'll scar and damage the cylinder walls.
I think Crome is similar to Uberdata. Can't say for sure though, so just wait for other people to chime in.
