I just bought a 01 honda prelude. I bought it for $12000 and the body is great. It has a short shift through, dc headers, injen intake, carbon fiber hood. The only thing is the check engine light is on but someone pulled the bulb. I looked at it closer and there is a code p1122-tps higher thean expected, P1259- vtech system malfunction. It was low on oil. And it also had a P0420- catalyst efficiency low bank 1 code. I know there is no converter on it. I dont know how it passed state and emissions in the state of Missouri. Also there is some things missing. The Intake Control Deaphragm, Intake Control Check
Valve is missing. Some pluged up the vaccumn line that the line goes to. The Intake Control Solenoid Valve is not hooked up either because the lines are inline with eachother. Thay did the inspections for me and i dont understand how it passed. I just want to know some more info about this stuff and i would like to know what i should do. Should i get my money back, make them pay for it? I dont know what i should do. Pleas e Help me. I need alot of it.

 

Private party sale? Used car dealer? Most sales are "As Is". You may have some recourse with a dealer, but you're screwed with a private party sale. Who did the inspection? The seller, or someone you chose? If you let the seller do it, consider it an education.

 

I did buy it from a used car guy, i did let him do the inspection and emissions. I am going to get it re-inspected tomarrow and my friend is going to give it hell on the inspection. Also i am going to take it to the emissions place. I am going to show them the passing papper for the emission test and find out who did it and ask them what the hell is wrong with them. Also the car should have failed for two wiper blades and a tail light out. I will talk to troup C, the main inspection place if the guy wants to put up a fight. If there is any other info u can give me that will help. Thanks
