Smog question
Can anything bad come out of failing a smog test besides having to retake it. Like when you crash your car and it gets a salvaged title that buyers can see, do buyers see that the car failed a smog test? Does it matter?
In California, if it fails bad enough to be considered a gross polluter then you are required to pass a smog check every year instead of the normal biannual inspection. This is somewhat the same as a "salvage" branding because now your smog inspection has to be performed at a test only/referee center instead of the regular and often more easy going smog center.
good luck.
good luck.
another thing it would kill you on is the price if you have alot of smog issues on the car within so much buyer can say cars running like **** imma have to rebuild it and he could knock you down for it.

ca smog you get put on gross list your fucked man.</TD></TR></TABLE>This is the one reason me & the wife didn't move to Cali 3 years ago. I love to tinker way too much w/ my cars & I can't imagine just wanting to try something new & fear getting busted by the cops.
I have heard horror stories about the cops checking under hoods, the car, everywhere just find something wrong. I can't believe they go to all that extent to teach these guys so much about atuo modification.

California sucks if you want to fix your car up,. Their are too many dumb laws trying to restrict your butt crack. Most of the smog comes from out of state trucks and vehicles. The worse things about California is that they don't allow us to tint our windows, they don't even allow us to do any modifications to any vehicle, and it cost a lot for gas. CALIFORNIA smog tests are just plan dumb, why don't they smog diesel which is half the problem

Number of times I see cops patrolling a week: Usually 0. It's a non issue if you are smart about it.
Once I was speeding out of the SD Airport on I5-North and all a cruiser did was get on his PA and yell at me to slow down with a couple blips of the siren.

truckers and/or out of state vehicle cause smog. diesel vehicle or to you big rig truck/s do now require to be smog tested and smoke tested. yes, diesel trucks do have to get smog and must have some kind of smog filtration ranging from $400 up to $20k.
if you only have intake, header, and exhuast you should not have any problem passing smog. i got a 98 itr with p&p head, ctr piston, eagle crank lightened/knife edge, aem cold air, edelbrook header, 2.5 exhuast pipe, adj fuel pressure reg w/guage. on stock usdm itr ecu with 100 octane. barely passed it. but it passed.
fyi. reason we have so many laws for vehicle. california especially south cal. CAR Capitol of the World. now stop bitching and find ways..after all you guys are tuners right.
