You will need to chip the P28 to run correctly on an H22. Chipped and tuned is highly recommended..

a P28 ecu's stock map is made to run a sohc motor, and it's base map is WAY off of the prelude's stock map. The only reason it would be good to use a P28 is if you have some kind of system (hondata, crome, neptune....etc.) to datalog with so that it can be tuned. You will of course also need a Obd2-Obd1 conversion harness so that the computer will plug in, and you'll also have to chip the computer so that the datalogging system can plug into it.

But just plugging it in will not do you any good....in fact, i doubt it would even start the car.

It probably would start the car... I'm almost sure people have done it on P28's and P72's.. I know I read a thread awhile back where there was a debate over running the P28/P72 was safe or not. Some saying it shouldn't/wouldn't work and was hazardous to the engine. While the guys that had done it were saying they saw/felt power gains from the P28/P72.

I still say he should Chip and Tune it at the very least.. And the stand alone system Chris mentioned should be considered..

Well you can Chip the P28 for an H22 and it would work. Only thing is that it would not control the Butterfly Valve's in the Intake Manifold... (That is, without modification to the P28 Circuit Board.)

A P72 would/could control them.

You could get the P28 and have it Chipped for the H22 and later get a Hondata to use with it. That's no problem.

Also, the P28 doesn't use the Knock Sensor, and I think the P72 also, but not sure on it though, minds blank right now..
