Default B16 Timing Belt too loose NEED HELP!!!

I replaced the timing belt and water pump. I put the timing belt backon tightened it up and it seem'd good. However after starting the car we heard a weird noise pulled the belt off and it was loose. I checked the time and it was all inline At TDC. I tried retightening it but to no avail. The weird part now when I turn the crank the belt gets loose at the top between the cam gears I turn it three teeth and it gets tight again. I don't know what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

did you put a new tensioner on? is it tight? are you sure you got the right belt and you've got it on right? because if you got a b16 and got the right belt and the tensioner bolt is tight, it should get loose.

When you tighten the timing belt, you should turn the crank pulley bolt counter clockwise three teeth on the cam gear, then loosen and tighten the tensionor. The spring on the tensionor should snug the belt to proper tension. But sometimes it doesn't, so you can manually move the tensionor into the right position to add tension, and retorque the tensionor bolt.

It is normal when turning the crank counter clockwise for the effort to rotate the crank to be alittle different as you rotate. That is the nature of a four stroke engine when there is valve springs exerting pressure against the rockers, then cams and cam gears, then transferred to the belt, and also compression strokes. But you never want a loose timing belt. Try rotating the crank 3 teeth as before, but this time manually move the tensionor to provide the right tension, then tighten the bolt.
