Ok guys sorry about the thousandth thread on this. This is a 5th gen btw. Anyway i have the lines looped on my power steering rack and have had it that way for about 6 months atleast with no problems. I am very happy i did the removal and it defly made the engine easier to work on and dropped some lbs also.
I have thought about trying to switch it over completelyto a manual rack but the problem is do i have to swap a whole rack assembly in there from a 4th gen ? Does that rack even fit ? And lastly what is the steering ratio of those manual racks ?

I would assume it's pretty similar...maybe not identical.

you have to convert the 5g rack just like I converted the 4g.
The 5g rack is much simpler though, it doesn't have that retarded speed assist steering crap.
Your main objective is to get rid of that seal on the rack, there is a piston on it that seals with an outer housing, cut the seal off, grease the insides with thick synthetic grease, wheel bearing grease works great...
