Default My Mom is buying a scion ...

Which is fine Just the dealer upgrade HU to play an ipod is 260. I Like my alpine HU with the cable to use my ipod, which is way less then 260. Just wondering if any other brands are easier then alpines interface.

Not looking for sub outputs, its for my moms car. But i want something quality like alpine or pioneer. Also never worked on a car with a 6 speaker system, how hard is it to wire up?

I put in a HU in my integra, the hard way with color matching the wires (plug was cut) so i understand some of this stuff, but by no means an expert.

If possible, keep it under 260, or else were going to get the dealer installed option.

thanks

Do you know which model scion she is getting? All the scions i have worked on is a simple toyota harness metra part 801761, they also make a dash which comes with the directions any stereo shop, best buy, or circuit city should have both; the 6speaker system is alot of cars now is just 2 rear speakers and the front would have a component set, usually 6.5" with a 1" tweeter running off the same output from the radio.

Why not have your mom ask if she can get a model with no radio at all, i think the factory toyota/scion radios run around $400 (a customer told me this) but with the money saved there you can easily get a radio with ipod hook up.

Sony, JVC, and pioneer for sure have radios that come with the ipod plug included and some directly built into the radio and im sure a few other companies has it too, if not you can buy the cable they usually run about $50 now.

I personally like the alpine and pioneer the most, they have awesome headunits and the ipod link for the newer models are very simple to use, almost identical to the ipod click wheel.
