A couple of weeks ago, as I was getting into my CRX after opening the garage, I heard a bunch of kids walk by and say, "Oooh, CRX, cool!" Next, "Wow, Integra Type-R - this guy has nice taste in cars!" These kids couldn't have been more than 10 years old - born after the CRX stopped production. Surprising that they dig the CRX. I would have thought kids these days would be into Corvettes, like I was when I was a kid, not a "lowly" CRX.

Another thing I've noticed, is that I've gotten more looks and compliments on my R from BMW owners than Honda/Acura owners. Of course BMWs, Audis, and Subarus seem to way outnumber Acuras in my neighborhood (even more neighbors with Porsches too) and in Colorado.

What was your idea of a "cool car" when you were a kid?

My favorites were Vettes, Trans-Am (especially the 7.5 liter Bandit version), Lamborghini. I still like Vettes, but Ferrari has replaced Lamborghini, and the F-bodys went down the dumps when I discovered the concept of trailer trash...

 

Yeah two guys drove past me in a BMW while I was sitting in the turn lane at a stoplight and one yelled out "Hey I like your car!" to me. Very strange and unexpected but okay.

It's crazy, I get compliments from people driving BMW's too. I used to love the Camaro SS and pretty much all Ferrari's.

When I was young I used to have an extreme addiction to the Back To The Future movies. The only car I wanted was Doc Browns modified DeLorean. Also, as of recently, I've become addicted to the camaro SS and the trans am WS6.

All time favorite car though, and one that I would drive if I had the money, would be the Ferrari 355.

 

When I was a kid (and still am if you ask some people), my obsession was with Ferrari's. It all started when a family friend bought me a Ferrari hat when I was 3.

But that's just a dream car that I doubt I'll ever get a chance to own. Back when I was in high school, I wanted a CRX.

i had a similar experience today.

drove by a truck, nothing.. special about it. i look over. he gives me a thumbs up and smiles. i smile back and give him a nod.

very cool.. maybe it's because my car is yellow.. mm

 

The first car that I thought was "cool" was a '80 station wagon w/ fake wood panels. LOL.

I like all cars. I hate ALL SUVs.

I always liked Camaro's and the Trans Am ws6...Ive gotten more interested in Porsches lately as well.

 

A little bit off topic, but I love it when little kids are into cars. You should have taken them for a test ride. Kids these days need something to look up to or look forward to, you don't know what positive things you can do just by taking the time to talk to those kids and teach them a few things about cars and how they work.

 

Dude, don't turn your back on those kids. They were probably contemplating the possibility of putting the ITR engine in the CRX......Keep an eye on your cars.

Got compliments from several kind of drivers...... An american Porsche driver pulled aside when I was standing at the gas-station to tell me he REALLY likes this nice R...... He gave a to his own car.... He received a for his Porsche from me though.

about a year ago i was driving around when i saw a guy in his 40's driving a nice
i guess it was a 98 bmw 328, he started to push a little so i went after him and got right next to him.
when we stoped at the lights he complemented my car and asked me to launch
it off the lights for him, so of course i did

 

when i was a kid, I loved porsches (my dad had a few). Now, most of my friends drive BMWs, i'm the odd man out, but its straight. oh yeah, i still love porsches

 

Yea, I used to love the 328 GTS, then it was the 348 ts, then the 355 Spider, but the one I've liked for a while now is the 550 Barchetta. The 360 Spider is nice, but I would still rather have the 355 or preferably the 550.

As for American cars, Trans AM WS6 all the way.

I've been into H/As since I was 13. I was pretty dumb then But got onto the boards such as this one and learned my *** off. I'm 15 now and learning more and more everyday. So...if I walked by your house I'd probably say something too. I'd probably ask you what's under the hood and have a nice conversation. I'm not quite 10...but imports are getting to everyone these days...usually to the wrong people. I know many of you are out of high school, but I get to hear about NOS and Euro Lights everyday. Goody.

So..since I'm still a kid...

A cool car is EP's M00gen R. Or Yoshi's "takata-spec" ITR. Or SuperTwinz hatchback.
