H22 or type r...I NEED SUGGESTIONS!!
Whats going on everyone im stuck between these two motors. I have a 94 coupe the car is gonna be a weekend, beater, track car. Im not sure if I should get the h22 or type r.
I know the h22 have weak transmissions etc. Here is what I wanna know. What car would be a quicker street/track car with basic bolt ons such as, Intake, quality header, fuel rail, exhaust, tune, good suspension and good tires.
i know all the pro's and con's with each swap, thats not what im asking, I just want input from fellow honda owners who has experiences with the type r motors and h22 motors. Whatever motor i choose im gonna do basic bolt ons to each...
Any help would be great

dollar per hp h22 especially since I have own both and there is so much aftermarket support for the h22 now. I remember when the only mounts you could get were expensive as hasports and a dc header. I hope this doesnt turn into a h vs. b thread but me knowing h-t I am sure it will be h22 ftw.
i say h2b that way u get both lol im just messin with u... what kind of budget are you on? if it were me i would of built an h22 instead of my b20 but i still love my b20 but its more what do u want from the motor?
H2B seems to be the best thing out there if its not a daily driver and you dont mind your hood propped up....
h22 have oil pan clearance but its cheaper to do this then a c5
if you have time a properly built b20/vtec would be the overall best for daily driver/weekend warrior.... to build a b20/vtec would probably be cheaper overall then a c5 and be alot more fun

If you plan on only doing only bolt ons then i would drop a euro type r (h) engine and tranny. that way you wont have to crack her open
Do you know where I can purchase a EURO H22 swap? I like the idea of the b20 but the cylinder walls are weak, I def dont wanna dump a grand into resleeving them plus all the other parts I need....I like the info so far everyone thanks alot!!

yeah man you should get an h2b or it might be a little cheaper to install a 4.7 final drive in the h22 which will kind of gear your gearing like a gsr I think gearspeed.com sells the for $550 but motor wise I love the h22s tourque we beat a ctr swapped eg hatch with a stock h22 coupe eg both with bolt ons we raced him 3 times 1 launching 1 rolling and 1 on the freeway downshifting and still kept on leaving him behind little by little maybe like 3 cars stock h22 tranny but that ctr VTEC sounds krazy though it might be funner to drive.
After completing my lsvtec, I am really satified with it but if I would have put the same amount of cash into an H, I would have made a lot more power.
The only thing that steers me away from it is that the thing is so big. I have installed a few for friends into 92-95 chassis and it's just a pita (for me) so I chose to stick with the B.

It all depends on what you wanna do. The h2b hype is no joke though. The track times speak for themselves. Most are running low 12's with just a few bolt ons. I will be posting an 87x95 12:1 c/r with pro 2's and a SSR side exit header. Hoping for 250+/180 on 91 octane. I'll be sure to post it up when its done. Hope this helps out.
