Default Cutting a car up (I own it)

Just to start off, I own the car. It was a gift, if you can call it that. The jackarse who gave it to me said "it only needs a clutch" Well, here we are 7 months down the road and I've decided to strip and toss the holy POS (found the rather large holes after stripping the interior).

So, does anyone know a good tool rental shop in Orange County, Ca? I'm thinking about renting a plasma just to get the job done with as quickly as possible. However, I'm open to all suggestions.

I'll be doing this at my apartment complex so, I'd prefer speed as opposed to long, drawn out, and loud.

I basically want to cut the roof off, then in front of the fire wall, behind the back seat supports, then down the center line and across from door to door. Those pieces should be small enough to manage.

BTW, it's an '87 Sentra.

sawzall with rescue & demolition blades should make quick work of it in a few hours.

Rescue/Demo blades.....can I get those things at Home Depot or do I need to look for specialty tool store?

Sawzall is quicker, safer and well quicker.

I've almost blown myself up twice cutting a frame with oxy/act. So I don't recommend anything using heat to cut steel in this application.

Plus the sawzall is like 10 times faster becuase you can cut through like 6 layers at a time.

Check with a local scrap yard or fire or rescue department (they will practice cutting it with the hydraulic cutter) or they will use it to make money off of at a fair by letting people take a sledge hammer to it

We just call the local junkyard, I usually get $50 for unstripped, and $35 for stripped cars from them, and they pick them up. I usually use the opportunity to rid myself of old tires, bent steel wheels, and any car-related crap I have lying around.

You guys are missing one important fact, Spade does things the hard way, he enjoys the abuse.

J/p, we've mentioned this to him before, but most places around him are charging to haul it away.

I purchased 2 shells last year from HT members, both with out papers. I stripped both for parts and had the shells hauled off by a towing company based in LA. They charged me $50 per shell to tow them off of my property. The car has to be rolling though. Flip through a penny saver and start calling companies that buy junk cars with or with out papers. There are several that will pick your junk up for under $100

Sawzall's are loud as hell when your going through a shell, definitely not apartment friendly. Someone will end up caling the cops with in the first hour.

This is on the list. I'll see if I cannot get this done first. The shell rolls still.

Around here companies put up little signs randomly that says "free junk car removal". I've used them twice.

The last time I trailored a Jetta to a scrap company in Baltimore and they used a big claw to pull it off the trailor and throw it on a pile of cars about 40 feet high. That alone was worth the drive, not to mention the $144 I got from the shell.

Steel prices are up!

Ding Dong that POS is gone.

to Hardt and drumking.

I called a local tow company in OC, who advertised in the pennysaver at 4:40pm, he was at my place by 6:30pm (after picking up another car), and the Sentra was gone by 6:45!

God if I only fricken asked HT about this crap months ago! LoL.
