? for the NA S200's out there
My buddy wants a S2 but he wants to mod it
he cant drive for **** and I know that a S2 takes some getting used to just to learn how to drive to the limits. Well I told him to go the NA route because that is what honda is all about. SO my ? is are there any cams for it and ECU's etc I mean how can you build one of these I have not seen a NA fully built yet just Comptech boosted.
Thanks
CHRIS

The only pistons that are available are the JDM units.
The only camshafts are made by Spoon Sports & TODA Racing.
I would check out http://www.s2ki.com/ and do some searching.

Tell him to spend his $ on driving schools instead of go-fast parts
Or better yet, tell him to give the car to me

Is 120 hp/liter not fully built enough? Especially for somebody who "cant drive for ****."

again nodoubt I have driven one and almost pissed my pants it was so fast and fun. But as a enthusiast I just want to know if you can build one of these badboys up or not NA style?
Everyone said the same thing about the Integra Type R's. Stuff like "it's already tuned from the factory" and blah blah. Whatever to that, tuners have taken that engine to 140hp/liter naturally aspirated. I think if any Honda engine is the best platform for building an N/A monster, the S2000 has it. It's a Type R-like motor and then some. The only hurdle is that the aftermarket support is just not there like it is for the Integras. But even still, I think you can tune that sucker to be even more badass than it already is.

Can it be done? Sure. Open up your wallet and start throwing $ at the fan.
220whp will get a Type R (1.8L) 140hp/liter at the flywheel easy assuming 10-15% losses to the drivetrain. Naturally aspirated 220whp is definitely streetable in an ITR. Tony the Tiger is making 220whp in his daily driven GS-R. I'm sure the S2000 can be upgraded as well, given availability of parts and tuning experience. Of course aftermarket support is hard on the S2k with it being so rare. But who knows what the future will bring. It can be done I think, with either of the cam upgrades mentioned with the JDM hi-comp pistons and cam gear/fuel tuning (are there cam gears for the s2k?) there should be some power to be had.

Call Ben at AJ-Racing at (604) 279-0329 -- we've worked on my S2K for the past few months and I'm at 12:1 compression vs. 11:1 (USDM) and 11.7:1 (JDM).
He's also the North American Spoon distributor, and can hook you up with Spoon products for the S2K.
PM for more info/details.

Thanks man
i hope this engine lasts longer than the previous one.
The Spoon crate engine/ecu combo pack (12.5:1) will crank 265whp and zip 12,500 USD out of your pocket. The real bonus is an even higher redline. Toda has finally released cams, but the only person with a set hasn't gotten far yet because they are using the AEM PEMS. Build it up NA? How about reinvent the wheel. A supercharger would be definitely be cheaper and arguably more streetable.
If your buddy can't drive, you'd be nuts to recommend anything other than lessons. People die driving these cars just from shear lack of experience. The only other Honda with a similar driving experience is the NSX. If you think the gap between a FWD Integra TypeR and a RWD S2000 is small, you must be smoking something illegal. Similar track times don't tell the whole story.

Speaking of driving lessons, Ray's had some interesting stories to tell me about PIR...care to share?
In terms of modding the S2K -- you gotta make a decision early on if you're going FI or NA -- either way has its ups and downs, and either way gets pretty pricey depending on how far you take it...

He must be referring to the 270 degree spin when I hit VTEC while tracking out of turn 4... boy did that suck. VTEC+Supercharger=lumpy power transition at 6000rpm. You can see me shaking my head side to side mumbling "not again..." while the car rotates real slow. Strangely, the turn 11 spin at Laguna Seca was a lot worse...
And if you go FI, whether to blow massive dollars getting a custom turbo, or purchasing one of the Supercharger kits.
Rich, you coming down to Seattle for the S2000 Movie premier?
