I have a 91 crx dx with a rusted out intermediate or b-pipe. The guy who owned it before me put a crappy bullet exhaust with a huge exhaust tip on it. So I'm left with a few options to replace the exhaust, which is where you guys can help me. I'm not too concerned about power, but am planning on building a mini-me this summer. I'm looking to spend under $200 total, and get the quietest exhaust possible. Here are my options:

1. Build own from crush bend pipes, elbows, cherry bomb resonator after cat, and advanceautoparts $20 muffler
estimated cost... $125

2. Bosal OEM replacement

intermediate pipe (are the si and dx pipes the same? I'd rather go with the si pipe if possible since I'm in the process of doing an si conversion)

3. Buy b-pipe from majestichonda and keep crappy exhaust, possibly adding a silencer and resonator/cherry bomb until I decide what to do.

So here it is... let me know what you guys think. I'll tell you that I'm heavily leaning on not building my own right now. The ultimate solution seems to be the bosal if I can afford to blow the money right now. Will installation be hard for this? My friend can do basic welding, and if he can get under the car he can probably weld the hangars. Alright, let me know

 

the si has a slightly bigger diameter than the dx. i kno cuz i swapped my dx for a complete si exhaust. im aklso runnin the 99 Ex exhaust manifold on a single vtec if that helps u any.

 

ok, so would the si b-pipe hook up directly to the dx cat converter or would it need modification? if i had to buy the di b-pipe, would the si muffler connect it without any problems? ideally i'd like to buy both si pieces and just leave the dx header and cat converter. would replacing the header do alot in terms of power?

 

Check with a local exhaust shop i'm sure they could make you a custom exhaust that will meet your needs and be around $200

 

would that be better than getting the bosal stock replacement? i want to paint whatever i get flat black, but i assume you can't paint stainless steel?

thanks everyone for the help on deciding. where i'm living right now (utah) there's only one place that does mandrel bend and it doesn't do custom exhaust work. I've gotten a few estimates, and it looks like anywhere from 150-200. one of the places uses galvanized steel for the pipes, others use aluminum. at this point it doesn't really matter as much to me. if it's straight aluminum i'm going to paint it to cut down on the rust, and if it's not, well we'll see. keep the ideas and input coming though. that monza pacesetter looks pretty decent. has anyone heard any reviews of them? i saw it on ebay and was therefore weary.

on a side note, the jack*sses at the towing place towed my rex last night after being parked in the only available spot for 45 minutes. so i'm down $121 from what i previously had. any legal ideas on revenge? i mean the douchebags didn't even request id to verify that it was my car. i smell a law suit waiting to happen. lets get this topic rolling. if i get enough feedback we might just make a new post from it.
