Default Budget suspension help?

Im looking for a budget suspension while i line out everything on my newly purchased 90 si CRX. Im just looking for a basic spring/shock type of deal. Nothing fancy. Hopefully about a 2" drop. Budget is under $350. What would some of you guye recommend?

There's a bunch of cheap things, I wouldn't really recommend it tho. The old adage 'you get what you pay for' rings especially true with suspension parts. For a 2 inch drop I'd recommend the KYB AGXs or Konis with something nice like an Eibach Sportline, but I supposed you could put dropzones on stock shocks.

one place i like to recommend is the wreckin yard. i picked up a full set of neuspeed lowering springs for my crx and a full set of ground controls for my hatch all for under $80. it may take awhile but somtimes its worth it.

im a big fan of illuminas. great quality. can handle whatever spring rate you give em.

i will not vouch for blues. ever. theyre not made in the same plant anymore, just farmed out to tokico facility in china nowadays. ive heard too many stories of them blowing. albeit mostlyfrom ricers who think using ebay coilovers were the way to go because they were cheap... but the quality of the blues doesnt vouch.

i really must stress that you should not think "i dont need adjustment" therefore i dont need illuminas. forget about the adjustments. for the last 3 years, ive set it once and forgotten it with my stock springs. yes, "set it and forget it". ive since enjoyed a great controlled ride to my pleasing.

theres a really cheap seller of illuminas on ebay. you can call them up and buy from them direct.

CRX SHIRTS FOR SALE!

The most you can really get for $350 is a good set of springs. Even if you do find really cheap struts I wouldn't recommend them - Unless you can find used brand name struts that are in working condition.

dang, i couldnt imagine paying 350 for a set of springs, lol. I was thinking maybe tanabe df210's and KYB's. It should get me thru a year alright anyway? Im using stock struts/shocks on my xB with them and they have held up great for over 6 months now.

I don't know where your finding GF210s and KYBs for $350 or less, but please do post the link if you did.

get some better shocks and buy some used springs off ebay or classifieds.

better to buy new shocks and used springs, then used shocks and new springs.

GR-2s suck for what we're trying to do with our cars, they aren't too shabby for dailys with stock like suspensions.

But I def assumed when you said KYBs you meant AGXs.... sorry.

Definately do NOT cut corners and "settle" for what you can afford right now.
Wait a little and save a little more so you can do it once and do it right.

Get any Eibach set of springs and then get either Tokico illuminas, KYB agx, or Koni sports.

Weird. I've had blues in my car for three years or so with the 'red' tokico springs, I've never had any problem with them. Maybe I was pre-overseas labor . I am going to be switching to the Illuminas though soon so that I can have some control over ride height, glad to see it's a recommended brand.

OP, I will also reiterate what everyone else is saying in here. You can buy cheap suspension parts to drop your car, but if you cut corners you will end up spending more money in the long run on worn out tires, bushings, and even the suspension parts themselves. Save your money and get some quality stuff.

My main problem is that the car has blown shocks and shitty coilovers on it now....I really dont have the luxury of waiting another 1-2 months so i can save up $700+ I just want something that I can get on here so im not driving a death trap. It already needs wheel bearings. I can just imagine what else is wrong with in once i get to digging in.
