RPM/speed SI d16 sohc
I have a problem with my gauges, i took them apart and when i put the needles back i have a feeling that my speed doesn't give me the proper reading.
Can someone tell me when you doing 60 km/h in 3rd gear what rpm does it read?
Its the 1.6 SOHC vtec.
And does anyone know what is the proper way to reset the gauges?
Thanks.

lol thats a random *** speed/gear reading. 60km/h in 3rd??? How bout 100km/h (around 60mph) in 5th....thats more standardized. You're lookin at about 3k -3200 rpm in 5th at 60mph. IF you have the D16Z6 (92-95). If you have a del sol with a y8, im not sure. You didnt say what car/year Si you have.

yes but the del sol was offered with a D16Z6 and a D16Y8 depending on the year. Im not sure about the Y8 gearing, like i said.

in an SI?!! you canadians have some weird gearing then. That sounds like DX gearing to me.

Yare thinking of a B16 Si which to us is the SIR. Also I have a 93 Si hatch with Y8 head and Z6 bottom with a Y8 tranny but I also had a Z6 tranny before. So at a 100 km/h you should be around 2500-2600 rpm and at 110 you should be at around 2800-2900 rpm. If you are doing 60 km/h in 5th you should be around 1500 to 1600 rpm.

No, im talking about the SOHC si. I had one of those motors in my hatchback. It came out of a 93 Si. This was a USDM car that was manufactured in japan. Im not sure if the Canadian cars are different. If you have the Y8 trans from a civic EX, this could mean the difference as well.
The 93 SOHC Si trans will be around 3k-3200 rpm at 60mph (100kmh) in 5th.

Thanks Bense in being so nice in giving us the gear ratios. I used the gear/speed/rpm calculator and I guess I was right. At 60 mph(100km/h) you would be doing 2600 rpms.

damn... I thought the rpms would be lower in 5th gear with a stick... Is it not that much different than an auto? I'm doing a auto to manual conversion as we speak... I have a DX tranny unfortunately... so the gearing is longer right? My moms camry could do 60pmh in 4th gear at 2,000 rpms. My civic auto was at around 2,500 or a lil more going 60 in 4th gear... Is there a big difference in gas savings between auto and stick?

Well you have a different trans then. The trans attached to the D16Z6 in the U.S. will put you around 3k rpm at 60mph

Are you retarded? I just did you the calculation for a Z6/Y8 tranny with the gear ratio's and final drive numbers that Bense gave.

lol why would you call me retarded? What if I really was? and what if those gear ratios werent right on....or you were wrong on a calculation?
I said that the USDM D16Z6 that i posessed was at around 3k at 60mph. I never said you were wrong, douche bag.
Then i said that "you must have a different trans", and you come out and call me retarded? Get hooked on phonics, then kill yourself.

According to this, i am at the right rpm at 60 mph in 5th gear, which is in between 2600-2700. But when i'm doing 40 mph in the 3rd the rpm gauge according to this table should read 3100. In my case it reads 2500-2600.
Something is messed up. Either i have a different gear ratio or my speedo or rpm gauge is messed up.
Does anyone know how to reset these gauges?

Ok Bense, who is the transmission guru on HT, gave us the gear ratio for our transmission with the final drive. All I did was copy paste the numbers on a website which does the calculations for you. How could I make a mistake with that? Are you questioning Bense on his numbers? Because between you and me, he knows more then all HT put together when it comes to this stuff. That is why he didn't give you guys a strait answer, he gave you the numbers and wanted you to figure it out! Also did you ever think maybe you have a different transmission then what you are suppose to have? Also Canadians didn't get anything different from the US when it came to engines or transmission!
I need hooked on phonics hahahaha, ya I think you should use your spell check once in a while and maybe relearn your grammar but nice one asshat! Also you are the one acting like a douche bag because you don't want to admit your wrong after I proved it to you! Whatever think what you want, your the one that look like the idiot giving out false information!

lol dude take a pill.
I never claimed you were wrong.
I said maybe you had a DIFFERENT transmission. Look up the word "different" in a dictionary. "you might have a DIFFERENT trans" doesnt mean "you were wrong, I was right."
I never said anything about right or wrong.

Thats TWO errors, since we're nit-picking. Thats not even mentioning the other errors found in your message. Damn...you should get your **** proofread, huh? Maybe take an English class...since we speak that language here.
What a moron.
