Default from stock to suede....

First and for most: please leave negative comments to yourself...I'm merely showing the work I'm doing so that people can know that there are ways with nice outcomes other than going out and buying black panels

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, I'LL BE ADDING NEW PICS PRETTY MUCH EVERYDAY TILL IT'S DONE!

Ok so in the pursuit of being different I set out for something to do to the interior that was different from what most people do...so here's what's going down:

Over the next week or so I'll be taking all the grey vynil pieces of the interior in my '93 del sol and taking it off to re-wrap it in black suede. I will also be taking all the grey plastic pieces off and doing a color change on them to black...so the whole interior will be black with a few small red accents(the stripes in the seats and the stiching in the ebrake and shift boots and shift ****. So here's what I've got done so far:

Starting off normal center panel:

The glue(only spray adhesive I found that said was safe for leather type materials)

Front side done:

trimming the excess off the back:

ALL DONE:

and jdm visor parts done so far(note: all plastic pieces are being sprayed with a plastic primer and satin black krylon fusion....using this paint it doesn't chip or wear off too easily):

on visors(still VERY wet):

so far so good....did 1 quick light coat of a plastic primer, then 2 light coats of satin black krylon fusion(specifiacally for plactics) spray paint. Not really a fan of spraying interior pieces, but it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper/easier than wraping them

well ****** the center top piece is now black...I'll be cleaning up the rear center speaker panel and possibly wrapping it tonight....we'll see. might just wait till tommorrow morning or evening

so here's the updated pics as of right now:

a Pillars and top front center pice done(with visors near by for a comparison):

grey visors next to black suede(probally will get done with that wed. night):

ROOF progress:
stock:

Cieling removed, next to suede:

Cieling finished and bolted back on:

DONE:

well, on with the pics....for some reason the B pillars look a lot lighter in the pics than in person, same with the suede....******* FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!! )

Shot across the back of the car from passenger side:

Headliner/jdm visor plastics(still need to wrap visors):

Passengerside rear speaker(not 100% happy with it, but it looks pretty good over all):

Driverside rear speaker(this one came out nearly perfect):

Even did the the dome light :
(for some reason this pic shows the true black spray color....taken from the little dip between the 2 personal boxes straight up)

Layout of what's still to get done:
JDM visor conversion:

Visors->black suede(with a little red stitch work)
Rest of interior
Vinyl on doors-> black suede

dont worry about it man, im in the same boat you are. i want all black interior in my eg 4 door, but it would take me forever and alot of money to source every jdm black panel. So im going to wrap and dye everything.

Good work Sean! I've been thinking of something similar for my interior in the distant future.

Thanks, James. It definately gives the sol a nicer feel/look overall. probally the best 75 bucks (60 for the suede and adhesive spray, 15 for the primer and paint) I've spent on the sol so far.

EDIT: wow over 200 views already?

Told ya they wasn't that hard!!! but there you want to make sure to give enough extra material when you fold if over so there's not stress on the material. it'll come loose if there is... happened to me the 1st time... but there's a certain way to do the speaker piece..... also a good thing to do is use tape all around the backside where you fold it over to keep it from unraveling! looks great mang!!!

2 months=faded,chipped, scratched

i give you credit for doing it all yourself but i have seen this done in person one some cars and in the near future the paint just lifts and comes off very easily

as for the wrapping, it looks like your doing a great job

best of luck
