Default Opinions needed...JRSC or GReddy bolt on turbo

Looking to do forced induction but not sure what to go with. Was thinking JRSC with 8 psi or GReddy bolt on turbo with blow off valve and intercooler. Needs to be emission friendly (I live in Washington by the way) Need opinions on this subject please. Looking for easy install without going too much deeper into internals, ecu work, bigger injectors etc. It will be daily driven. So tell me how your rides have been holding up. Power gains? Downsides? Benefits? Reliability?

i have a JRSC setup. I like it cuz it has very good low-end midrange torque. i've never driven a greddy turbod teg, or any turboed teg, but from what i've heard turbo spools at 3-3.5 K for a greddy turbo (small one). up to u, both are stock motor and emissions friendly.

if i had to choose i would go with the turbo, i here too many supercharger guys complain cause they are kinda stuck when it comes to boost levels but with the turbo you can do almost anything you want

Both are great kits no matter which way to go but 8 psi will not be the same between the two.

See sig if your interested how much i'm putting out with the greddy.

he's at 225 whp at 7 psi. that is a tad more than the JRSC. if u want all out drag power turbo is the way to go. JRSC is more suited for AutoXing (even tho heat is a bitch). also take into consideration cost. reason i went w JRSC is cuz i managed to get a brand new kit together for 1200 hehe. lucky deal. but get with what u feel u want...all out power....or more like a daily driver down low torque...ur choice

I would go with the Greddy kit just because if you ever feel the need for more power, you can always upgrade the internals and such unlike with the JRSC.

is the GReddy turbo kit with blow off valve and intercooler going to be ok for emissions in the state of washinton? also DB8GSR are you running a BOV, intercooler, upgraded fuel?

I don't see why your car won't pass the smog sniffer test with this kit because I just did mine last February and it read almost like stock figures. It'll be the visual inspection that most turbo guys have problems with but as long as you have papers, your good.

And to answer your question, yes I do have a blowoff, IC and the fuel management already comes with the kit which is the blue FCU box.

Here's a streaming video of my recent dyno. Just click the link. Sorry, no dialup.

yea, follow the guy that did his car right.

I've ridden in DB8GSR's @ 7.25psi and JRSC GSR @ 8psi; obviously the JRSC had more lowend power, but the Greddy kit pulled much harder in the upper revs.

I'm not exactly sure about the emission policy over where you live, but i don't think the intercooler and BOV is legal in term of visual. I think it had to do with the 5MPH crash test w/ the front mount intercooler. Not sure why the BOV is not legal though. I think that's the reason why Greddy didn't sell the kit w/ IC and BOV. I might be talking nonsense though, so if anyone has the fact, just tell me i'm wrong.

Hey.. I happen to like that sound. JRSC cars sound great!! JRSC is more sleeper too, cause you don't have a FMIC to let everyone know you're boosted.

Ive researched both the Greddy turbo kit and the JRSC (---> Ridden in a JRSC'd 9lb GSR recently) I still think I would choose the Greddy kit over the JRSC. The Greddy spools fast, and has great reliability. Ive not heard of anyone with Greddy Turbo issues, at all. The JRSC is awesome, and sounds sweet, but I actually beat the guy with the 9si JRSC in my NA GSR....eek.

Furthermore, the ability to up the boost is a huge plus with the turbo. Bc eventually, you WILL want more power if you are boosting...ask anyone...its near inevitable.

Check out http://www.dragturbo.com, their kit is reasonably affordable. It's around 3k with intercooler and all. Power doesn't build until roughly 4000 Rpm. Off boost it just drives like a regular B18C equiped car. You should have no problem passing emmisions because emissions testing only goes up to 15 mph or 2000-3000 rpm no matter what gear you put it in. I recommend this turbo if you are looking for high top end power. It's actually more powerful than the greddy setup that feels like it runs out of breath fairly quick in comparison, but in its favor boost builds around 3000 rpm and thus offers greater and earlier responsiveness. The drag turbo is very big and allows a lot of room for future boost upgrades. This is all coming from a guy who has seen both turbo kits in action.
