Hmmm. Never in my life have I seen a stock manifold crack. Ive had one warp but thats it. Im thinking it was real hot and possibly driving through the rain or a puddle that splashed on it? But I cant imagine water getting up that high?

I don't think it happened suddenly, and I don't think it would have been overly hot. I first noticed it about two months ago, when it was warm enough to have the windows down and I heard the leak. It got noticeably worse maybe a month later, and I just got it replaced yesterday. I have not done anything other than normal (sometimes fast) street driving in the past few months. I did have the A-pipe replaced twice (warranty decision, I'm not convinced it was necessary), but that was 20k miles and 12+ months earlier.

I certainly was not expecting such a big crack!

Hey, it's not my fault the thing cracked. Or at least I don't think I've done anything that would cause it. I certainly haven't been driving in the ocean or some such nonsense. I didn't really post it to get speculation on what happened, I just thought people would be interested in the picture because of the unexpected size. It gave me an excuse to get an aftermarket header.

Mine cracked too. I didn't notice till my engine got pulled at 150k miles, but still. I don't think mine was as big as yours though (that sounded funny)...

Whew, that's a lot of miles! Did you ever have any exhaust work? I can't help but wonder if the dealer banging away on the A-pipe could have started it, even if it was a year earlier.

Okay, yes, I'm starting to speculate on why it happened now...
