Default 02-04 rsx-s owners

ok my buddy has a 2003 rsx-s, the other day he was driving hard and he missed shifted from 1st to 2nd, now everytime he tries to shift fast from 1st to 2nd it grinds, or automatically doesnt go into gear, he can do it kinda fast without grind or a miss, and when he just drives it normally, there is nothing wrong with it, but he says that there is like 2 notches in second gear, and in order for him not to grind or miss he has to pull it pass the first one, and into the second one, does n e one else have this problem? i know that whenver a k tranny goes bad it usually grinds everytime, but his only does it when he shifts fast, n e one know how to fix this? thanks guys

just go to honda and ask for MTF, manual transmission fluid. Its what I used with a tranny with 170,00 and turboed. No grinds, works great, i mean it is the stuff they put in from the factory.

I have an 04 DSM and I experience this "2nd notch" sensation sometimes when going into 4th. On Clubrsx there was a long thread put up about ppl ranting about malfunctioning trannies for their 02-04's. The most popular complaint was that 2nd would constantly grind. Now, although i experience the "2nd notch" effect when going into 4th and sometimes 2nd, my tranny never grinds (unless driver error). I've actually adjusted my technique to expect and compensate for this notchiness, so i barely notice it anymore. I remember reading one post where someone fixed the notchiness on his Rsx by switching to the Buddy Club racing spec short shifter, which I plan to get at some point.

Yout friend has crunched the 2nd gear syncros. Nothing left to do but pull the tranny and replace the over $300 syncro set. Sucks but I did the same thing, then tried fuilds, bushings, shifters, then found the problem when we pulled the tranny apart. Reality is the RSX syncros are VERY fragile. One bad shift and they're gone bye bye.
