Rattle from belts & how to purge power steering.
I recently had my timing belt done, and while they did this i had them switch the two belts on the outside of the timing belt housing. now whenever i start my car, i get this rattling noise that dies down as the car warms up. my mechanic said it might do that since the belts are all new. Is he giving me crap or is this something that anyone else has experienced? Also, anyone know how to purge the power steering fluid. I had a friend check it out and he says there might be air in there since it has started to foam. Can anyone help? No sarcastic remarks either please, I really do need the help.
The belts may have been put on with the wrong tension.
If you want to drain and fill your power steering fluid, and you should if it has foamed (nasty), according to the manual as I remember:
jack the front end up
remove the resevoir
put the hoses in a container
-powersteering fluid will eat your paint off quickly, don't get it on anything
turn the wheel from full left to full right repeatedly, with the MOTOR OFF, until the fluid is empty
put the resevoir back on, fill
turn the engine on and fill the system
ONLY use HONDA POWERSTEERING FLUID
