sorry for the noob questions, but i already have too much money tied up in everything, need to find a solution. eveything is mild steel
i need to weld my 3" exhaust bend kit and 2.5" intercooler piping. I have a hobart handler 125 (ready for mig conversion)(110v)
the exhaust is 16 gauge and the piping is .065" thickness. mild steel
can i use this welder as it is the make my parts? i have looked into buying the mig conversion but i cant afford to buy the tanks ($100 at northern for just tiny tanks)
otherwise any suggestions on cheaper tanks would be appreciated.

I did my entire downpipe/resontator/muffler and all i/c pipes as well as my bov w/my lincoln 110v flux core...
I have since bough the mig conversion, just need the tank now..
Doable..just take your time and keep everything clean..
Best of luck.

I have the same machine and welded up both my exhaust and IC piping using fluxcore. The key is to make sure all parts are fitted perfectly to get a good bead running. Fluxcore leaves a lot of residue and splatter, but just take your time and practice.

If you don't plan to keep using your welder with gas, but would like to use gas for this job, find a local welding store that will buy back your bottle when you're done with it. The two places local to me will sell, buy, or trade up on bottles. So if you bought a bottle, used the gas (with any re-fills you needed along the way) and sold it back, you'd only be out money for the gas and maybe a small loss on the buy back.

i see said the blind man...
i had a chance to test out the welder on 2.5" 16 gauge and it worked nicely. not like a mig or tig but it layed a decent bead and it all sealed.
now i can start putting my turbo kit on. Very Nice, Great Success
