Default is a knock sensor needed for a b16 w/chipped p28?

i bought a b16 and came with a chipped p28, spoon i think. anyway, ive read that the ks goes on d3. but im not sure if i actually need to pin it since p28 is for 5 gen civic, and those civics dont have a ks. therefore, would placing the ks on d3 endup going nowhere or would the ks be active? i heard that when u chip an ecu, the ks is bypassed. is this why j1 needs a jumper? thanx please reply soon. gonna do swap tomorrow sat.
