Cluster Lighting - How Can It Be Improved? What Size Bulbs? L.E.D's?
Stock Crx Si cluster, dont know the exact year of the cluster but it was plug and play with my original wiring in my 88 Crx
Im tired of this cluster, it looks old, the bulbs are a shitty aftermarket replacement red, and only a few of them I could find in red, the rest or stock, so it looks stupid.
What replacement bulbs can we use in these clusters? I would like either amber/red or a BRIGHT led white
I really dont want my cluster face itself to be lit up. But only the numbers/letters from BEHIND to look great
Whats out there? Show me some pics please

I also was just at the store and seen a few amber 194 and 74
Are those the only 2 I would need? Or you do you need a different number? I mean to replace pretty much all the lights to change the BACKLIGHT colours
I wanna know what numbers change the BACKLIGHT

there is no one bulb for the BACKLIGHT
each of the bulbs shine to a small area on the front of the cluster.
all he did was replace all the rear bulbs with blue led types, and it gives the illusion of blue numbers.
his solution isnt perfect but its as good as you can get with these older clusters.

just yank your own cluster, it takes like 3-4 mins

the 88-89 is different then the 90-91 as far as bulbs it uses.
this is one of those thing you should probably inspect yourself before ordering.

Srsly?
Just pull your cluster when you get the chance (I'm driving around with half an interior installed at the moment and no rear speakers, much less a center console) and go from there. Nothing happens overnight.

The look Im going for is LED White numbers and a tach with no real cluster lighting from the top so Im gonna leave that stock. Id just like the numbers to be illuminated from the back nicely and evenly.
