Default Your choice on sleeves in a H22

I've been doing a lot of looking around, and have yet to figure out what brand I should get. I plan on running around 13:1 comp with JE Pistons. Please post up with your experiences with different brands of sleeves, problems, good things about them

We always use Darton sleeves in all of our race cars... they hold up to every bit of punishment we have thrown at them...

Darton makes Bensons sleeves to his specs. You should break down the darton category more. MID's...

I dont want to start any type of war, but why are GE sleeves the least cost of the whole bunch. This makes them attractive. Just wondering what the deal is. I am not knocking GE in any way, just want to know whats up with the pricing. I would feel more confident if they were the standard $1000.00 or so.

This would be a bad topic to start up..Like all sleeving threads it would become a pissing contest..Although we would win...hahaha

ok we charge $950.00 to sleeve a h22 so its not all that much cheaper, as to why we are able to sleeve for a cheaper price, its because we make our sleeves in house so we don't have to buy them from another shop pay to ship them here and mark them up for resale, and to Darton your yet to win one hahaha but all joking aside no need to turn this in to a pissing contest he asked a question and i answered it with out putting down any other shop

Thanks for clearing that up. About 2 years ago, my cousin had his H22 sleeved at GE, and I swear he said the cost was $800, thus my question about GE sleeves. Thanks for clearing that up

I am in the same boat as you. I have pretty much decided to go with Darton Mid's by Jim Justice (can't go wrong with anything he does) but I wonder about ERL, Bensons, GE...so many good choices.

Maybe the question you should ask is what "problems" have you had with xxx sleeves. People by nature will always complain about a problem before they will tell you the good.

when you choose a sleeving company make sure that you know what you are getting as far as the FINAL price after all the machining is done, etc.

Some sleeving companies require Line bore after they complete the sleeving process. Also, look at the prices and see if they include a final bore, hone and deck. Prices can be misleading on the sleeving service. It can cost you an additional $200-$500 after the sleeving is done if it doesnt include the other machining that is required.

There are also other perks by other sleeving companies that they offer with the services.
For us, we bead blast and clean the block before any sleeving is done. That is included often in the final price.

Here's some examples of before and after:

And an example of a DARTON MID sleeve kit installed in an H22 closed deck

also a pic of an H22 open deck. sorry for the bad pic, the block was already wrapped up and ready for shipping.
