Whenever I start my rex (91 dx) The engine idles @ 2000 rpm's and then slowly goes down to about 800... (takes a few min). It also sometimes loopes when idling. I just replaced the timing belt so thats not the problem. Any answers/suggestions as to what I might do? Thanks a lot.

when i do a cold start in the morning, it starts idling at 1400ish then goes down to 800ish when its fully warmed up. btw its a zc with 89 integ ecu. seems normal but im not too sure. late

iut is normal it does that when its cold. Try lertting your car run for a bit like 10 min then shut off start it up and itll idle at 800.

 

check your AIC (air idle control)
maybe you have a small vacuum leak

 

Or maybe you have a clogged cat...

 

if your engine is cold, the ecu revs it to 2k so it can warm up faster.
