Default b20b swap advice w/pics

ok heres the scoop...

i just bought a b20b with mounts, tranny (i don't know what kind) and axles out of a 94 civic coupe.
I found it in a junkyard. i got there right when they brought it out and scored big time. i took the whole drivetrain and even black gsr seats that look like they've been resently upholstered. it even has a dc sports header on it!!

well the reason for this post is for some ideas. i been doing some research trying to learn more about the b20b's potential and weaknesses. so what do you guys think, should i get a vtec head, go turbo? idon't know i just can't wait to swap it in and feel the difference in torque.

i was gonna swap in a d16z6 sohc vtec engine that i have but i guess my plans have changed. i'll try to post some picks up as soon as i can.

also, what other parts am i gonna need. i already know i need mounts and wiring. and a ecu.
sadly it was gone before i could get to it. which ecu do i need?

oh and by the way, its going into my 88 crx si. its black with black 17's and some cheap *** ebay coil-over kit.

here are some pics:
the engine

the seats

my baby, 88si

just bought this for daily driving duties.
i might put the d16z6 in this now that the 88 is gettin the b20

What ever floats your boat...we're here to help. If you want to build a turbo, run a search because that topic had been discussed here before...same if you decide to go lsvtec etc...

Drop a line on my b20b build thread. It has a detailed list of everything you need (90 EF Si). Doing a properly tuned B20 Vtec is just as expensive as getting a turbo - and you have to do it right.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1919272

How much did you pay for your b20b + tranny? Nice find btw.

Also, what was wrong with the EG you jacked the engine off? Bad collision?

Like this? Get the URL for your pics off photobucket (middle option I think), then just wrap the url in '[img ][ /img]' or hit the insert image button and it'll put them in automatically for you.

i paid $75 for the seats
$200 for the engine
$100 for the trans
$70 for the axles

this is the eg that i got everything off of:

can someone tell me if this tranny has lsd, it has a stamp on it that says ysk1, is that a ys1??

oh yeah the eg coupe had a smashed front, but it wasn't that bad, i think it was fixable. a new front and some new airbags and it would of been good to go.
hey i followed your link freakystyley_73 and it was very informative. how can i tell what intake i have? since this engine was already in a civic i'm assuming all the hard work has been done. like the axles should fit my crx right? and the intake...
i think i'm gonna run this obdo. my friend has an ecu for me out of his wrecked 90 da teg.
so that means i need th da dizzy and intake right?
the tranny i have is hydro. i also took the reservoir and the cylinder so i think all i need would be a
hydro line running from the cylinder to the slave right?
man i haven't been this excited in a very long time. i can't wait to start working on this!!!

heres another engine shot:

does that look like a teg intake??
i'm gonna try to get some better shots tomorrow of the engine and tranny. i can't figure out what kind of tranny i have because that sticker thats usually by the engine code isn't thier.

another thing is how can i tell what dizzy i have? obdo, obd1??

thanks for all the help guys.

It looks like the dizzy had 2 grey plugs so they're obd1 or 2...2 white round plugs are obd0

Oh my god. You stole that engine. I hope you took that cold air intake as well lol.

I found a picture of an integra intake manifold just now:

It looks identical to the one you've got on there, so my guess is that's where it came from.

I still can't believe the deal you got on that engine though dude. Did you ****** the shift linkage off it too?

I'm positive i've seen a thread or a site somewhere on how to identify the transmission you've got... Try doing a search on HT or google.

The axles may not fit though... they might be specific to your car, but they're remotely cheap through Hasport. I'd give them a shot first though. If that tranny is a hydro tranny (which i bet it is) you'll have to get a cable-hydro conversion - you can buy those relatively cheap off hasport as well.

The ECU doesn't have to match the intake manifold - just the distributor and alternator. If everything's already on there i'd almost suggest keeping that engine together and converting your CRX to OBD1.

You're a lucky bastard,
good luck

yeah i guess i did get a good price on that.
the trannyis hydro but i took everything except the hardline that goes from the tranny to the clutch cylinder. i think i'm gonna try to convert my car to hydro instead of using a cable to hydro conversion.
it can't be too hard to do. i really hope that these axles fit on my car because i don't have money right now to buy new ones.
does anybody know if any b series header/manifold will bolt up to this thing? i might replace this one cuz it has a couple dings in it. to bad i searched and a dc sport header goes for around $400-$500.
i can't wait to start workin on this but its hard to find time during the week. i been searching youtube for b20 honda vids and i found a couplgood ones that show how these suckers run in ef's and eg's.

Any b series intake manifold will fit on the b20, but a b20 intake manifold will not fit inside an EF.
