Question - Where is the 2nd 02 sensor harness plug at within a 98 GSR DC2? I am trying to unplug the 2nd o2 sensor which goes into the car - I tried pulling on the grommet and don't want to rip it? I am afraid I need to remove center console, seat etc. The sensor has welded itself in, I think. GRRRR!
Please help ASAP. I would like to go out in the morning and knock this project out!
Thanks much!
Story:
I started modding my daily driver tonight. Replacing stock exhaust system with Greddy Header - omni USDM test pipe and Apexi WS cat-back. My idea is drop the whole thing as 1 piece and throw the new stuff on.
So, far I have split manifold into 2, removed top piece off, removed intake off, unplugged 1st 02 sensor. I need to unplug 2nd one and drop the whole system down and try to take the 02 sensors off when the exhaust is on the ground. Hence I need to unplug 2nd sensor.
Also, doing AEM CAI and fidanza short shifter with razo ****. Nothing too crazy. Its my daily driver, like I said

Thanks, I will do that for sure first thing in the morning. Hope there is enough slack in the wire!
Becareful when droping the exhaust system. I know from working on 6 different 94-96 tegs. If you don't support the exhaust, it may pull out the wires and you make have to repin the o2 sensors. Good luck

Yep, thats why I am super nervous. I have unplugged 1st one from harness easily. I want to get the 2nd one off before trying to even undo the hangars. I will post some pics soon!
Thanks all!

I have a suggestion for the removal of the sensor. I've dealt with this alot. Honda O2 sensors get "welded" in so bad. LOL.
anyway, I just did some work on my '98 GSR, and the trick is to have the exhaust be a little hot still. The metal is expanded that way, on your cat.
There is a specific tool for removing O2 sensors, the one I use is a MAC removal tool. If you don't have one, most parts stores (autozone, napa, schuks, etc. ) will rent it to you, or even let you use with a refundable deposit.
Anyway, that tool, will get it out no problem.
This is off topic, but I wanted to post it up anyway for you. The reason I had to remove my O2 sensor was because I was throwing a code 67 which is cat inefficiency. I did the little spark plug non-fouler trick, and it worked awesome. If you're putting on a test pipe, or changing anything, I'd suggest to do the non-fouler trick at the same time. It will save you time down the road. Because without a chipped ECU, your car WILL throw the 67 code with a test pipe. So, if you have to rent the tool, at least this way you only have to rent it once.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I just finished the install a while back and went for a drive. The car just feels so much less constipated than it did with the stock stuff.
civic92 - Yes, I supported the full system with hangers.
I was able to remove the grommet and pull down the plug for the 02 sensor. I unplugged it and then dropped the full system.
pvt_awol - Yes, thats exactly what I did. I rented the 02 sensor removal set from autozone and took of the sensors with it. They come out without a hitch. I may do the OBD1 with chipped ECU and skank2 manifold someday, not anytime soon.
I had a second bung welded in my USDM omni testpipe in the same location of the 2nd sensor. I used one anti-fouler drilled out and mounted the rear 02 sensor to the pipe. I had one finger clearance with the underbody and the wires are making a sharp 90 but not pinched or stuck in any way and have some good play. I used the tool to install the sensors as well and used some anti sieze for good measure.
Other notable mentions:
1) The fidanza dual bend install went without a hitch and man do I love the shorter throw. Very impressive shifter for $25 shipped, new in box (ebay, baby)
2) Greddy header is a quality product and install went smooth from underneath. Bolted up snug and is now a golden color after some interstate runs.
3) AEM CAI install was also easy, but I complicated things by replacing the coolant lines that ran from the t-stat housing to the throttle body. This let air into the system and the rad cap had some leakage during my first test drive. I had to limp it home and "burp" the system using the steps posted in the archives. I was able to get the cooling system working successfully
4) Apexi WS2 - I am so glad I got this exhaust. Sounds great and even without the cat, no raspiness. It has gotten a little louder after a few drives and expect it to get a little bit more in the days to come, but I am glad. I may do a spoon N1 axle-back for HPDE days this year!
Thanks again, everyone! I am enjoying the ride much more today
