Default Switching to Synthetic

If you have over 100k miles on prelude and switch to synthetic oil, does damage some seals and causes to oil leak? lot of myth i heard but still not sure. Got Idea?

i did the switch myself at 125k and had to take it out because of major leaks it caused. your best bet would be to use one of the blended oils IMHO

I have been running Full Synthetic Mobil 1 since I got the car 2 years ago. 163,000 miles and no leaks.

Depends on the condition of your motor. Synthetic does not "Damage" any seals, it simply cleans the motor better than conventional oil. This means that some seals might be gunked up, and synthetic will clean them, this can lead to leaks. You should be OK.

I switched at 100k to 0W30 synthetic in winter and 5W30 synthetic for the rest of the year.

No problems. I had a minor oil leak on my VTEC solenoid filter, but I'm guessing that had zero to do with the oil being used and a lot to do with how I drive the car.

If you've got oil leaks, here's an idea : fix them, and they'll go away!
