Default Clutch Questions

In the past two weeks or so since I got back from school, I've been driving my car a lot more. I dunno why, maybe it's all in my head, but it feels like the clutch is starting to grab lower than it used to, it grabs about an inch and a half off the floor. Also, there is about a half-inch of freeplay on the top that I never noticed before. I did a search and it said to adjust some bolts, but I have a 96 GSR and I think that it should have a hydro tranny, not a cable. It still grabs hard and it never slips, but a friend of mine told me that the engagement point is going down because the clutch is old and ready to go. But is that the clutch itself or is that like once of the hydraulic parts? It has 163,000 miles on it, and the clutch plate was replaced once at 90,000. Also, what does it mean to have the clutch plate replaced, is that different than having the whole thing done?

96 gsr hydro tranny=true, replace the clutch plate=the main part, 163000-90000=73000 right, you should replace the whole clutch assembly, and the flywheel
