Default Adjusting lifters?

I just got the head on my 92 Prelude Si back after getting dual coil valve springs, 3 angle valve job, and over sized valves....then i had the stock cams reground to have a 254/250 duration but it still has the factory lift.... now i need to get my lifters adjusted... i followed the book and used a gauge...expletive BOOKS the freakin book ended up locking up my cams broke the cam gears knocked the belt off and fucked up the timing.....so now i backed they way off and it rattles horribly.....any tips on adjusting will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! I build v8's so this honda 4 banger stuff is new to me but i learn quick

You don't have any lifters in an over-head cam engine....V8 or 4 cylinder. What book are you using? If it's a Haynes/Chiltons, you need to ditch it and get a Helms manual.

Also, if you had someone change the cam profiles, they should be able to tell you what valve lash to run.

Rockers lifters tappets all close enough ....like i said i dont really mess with Hondas or OHC engines ... obviously you know about them so do you know if they make a longer adjusting bolt/set screw (lack of vocabulary again, they take the place of a push rod) because the cam lobe is trying to hit the lock nut when adjusted less than .018 on a feeler gauge and then every thing locks up so i really cant adjust them any tighter like closer to .007 on the intake and .009 on the exaust which schneider, where they were sent, recommends the valve lash to be ... but i do appreciate the correction on my vocabulary, like i said i like to learn and any help is appreciated

I haven't heard of any longer screws...maybe you could find something on http://www.mcmaster.com. You'd have to measure very carefully though

You say the cam lobe hits the adjusting nut?! This is on an H23 head? Would you be able to post a picture of that area. I have a spare H23 rocker arm right here in front of me and I don't know if a longer screw would help you......

thanks for the link it help with the steps and how to "correctly" but i have a screwed up problem that i never encountered before: the cam lobe is trying to hit the lock nut at around .018 on the intake and it needs to be .007 ( the exaust worked fine)....so now i know how but i cant get them adjusted enough any suggestions would be fantastic. i was wondering if they made longer adjusting bolts (kind of like longer push rods) or where is a good place to buy rockers ... thanks again, i'm a hands on person and prefer to work on my own stuff but its not easy with the lack of knowledge...DOHC engines are in a new league compared an old v8....so all help is appreciated

You can get new rocker arms from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com or http://www.slhondaparts.com.

yeah its h23 and i agree that a longer screw would not help.... i was up all night measuring and trying all kinds of stuff. im almost positive that it needs a different rocker and right now im willing to get anything that may help. any suggestions on what brand? (thanks for the parts links) sorry i dont have a pic .... i took the cams out last night and the whole top of the head is taken apart .. what a f*$#ing headache!
~~~~~>i dont think a factory rocker will work....do you know where i can get an after market rocker ..possibly one that is taller? more arch?
I wish they made some aftermarket H23 rocker arms, but I have never heard of any...I'd love some roller rockers.
Maybe the shop that did the cams could so something with the stock rockers?
yeah i looked every where and called everyone and nothing....im just wondering if an f22 or h22 etc. rocker is interchagable and if there are any aftermarket rockers for those engines?? i know in v8s there are ways to rig stuff up such as putting a dime under a lifter..are there any tricks that may be worth trying on DOHC Honda engines....right now im open to trying anything even if its only a "theory"
~~~~~> I called every cam company i could find and no one makes rockers for H23 because there is not enough demand.... ...now i have to start from square one and research size to see if any other rocker will interchange

I finally got everything to work ....i tried everything i could think of and ask everyone but the last person i could asked finally had great advice... basically he has had the problem on his 4 bangger fords but its allgenerally the same... he suggested to throw away the lock nuts and drill and tap the end of the rocker to take the place of the set screw i also had to grind a litle off the rocker to let the cam lobe rotate freely and sure enough i was able to adjust everything to where it is supposed to be (i have picture but they are on my cell phone i will try to post them for any body who may have this jacked up problem)

~~~~> i went through all that work and they still don't work properly....FUTURE PLANS=VTEC HEAD SWAP
