Default Stock Ignition: How to 2 step?

About to head to the track for the first time this season and I've been wondering what my options are as far as a 2 step would go... I have a distributor king dissy too (seems to be working great... 425/325tq)... Management is Apexi Power FC... (could switch back to a chipped ecu if I had too...)

I basically need something to help me build boost off the line and work as a launch control.

Is there something easier out there besides switching to an aftermarket ignition?

you either need an ecu with launch control, a 2 step on my car with the t3t67ho, at 8200rpms, i only got 8 psi. so to build good boost you need something with antilag. either way you need an ecu with anti lag, or launch control, or an ignition box with provisions for a 2 step.

when i spoke with the people at msd, they told me that i had to use a tach signal unit that they sell(i don't remember the part# right now) in order to be able to use their two/three step modules without an ignition box!

The key to a two step is to be able to retard timing (a ton of it) along with your rev limit, and the functionality to cease once you've launched.

You can buy an external box setup for it, or you can use an ECU that incorporates it internally. There's no "work around" for it. You need one or the other.

Anymore info on just using the tach adapater and a 2/3 step box?
