SOHC VTEC
I'm fairly new to the Honda engines and the vtec but I have been studying up on them, but I was just wondering I have a 92 Prelude S and I was reading about the sohc vtec and it says that the spark plugs have to be put in at an angle to clear the cam and the f22a engine has the spark plugs at angles does the make it a sohc vtec, when did honda start producing the sohc vetc?
No Preludes had a SOHC VTEC. You have an F22 non-VTEC unless somebody swapped it, in which case it will say VTEC obviously on the valve cover.

There's tons of SOHC VTEC engines, F-series, D-series, I think R-series have VTEC SOHCs...not sure.

I was just wondering cause I didnt see vtec on the valve cover but like I said I am just studying up on honda engines and the vtec, and I just wasnt sure cause of the angled spark plugs and I know on sohc vtec the spark plugs have to be angled. But if the sohc vetc only benefit from the intake valve what kinda performance does it give the engine?

Well, you still get 2 cam profiles...usually it's for gas milage, but you get a little more power on the high lobes.

True. Some F23's say VTEC on the valve cover, and other's say 16 Valve.
And yes, the F22Ax have the plugs angled back, and the F22B1 and F23Ax have them angled forward
