Just pulled apart my friends shifter assembly because it was rattling. I thought it was hitting the exhaust, which it was.

Now it still rattles a bit, even though its not touching the exhaust by any means. There is a good 1 finger gap betwen the exhaust b-pipe and the shifter arm.

Any ideas?

yea. the previous owner put some POS ebay rod on.

 

I've heard its a common problem with aftermarket shifters. my b&m did it like crazy

 

i figured that, the bottom "t" that bolts to the linkage is also smaller than the opening in the linkage and no spacer was installed to begin with. i guess he is going to have to get the skunk 2 short shifter, or go back to stock.

 

i have a cheap ebay one, and it rattles alot at certain rpm... ive done the same and it hasn't changed. i just got used to it
