the timing is off or something, your not supposed to be able to adjust the timing on those cars if its obd2 and has a crank sensor

When you jump the plug the car goes into limp mode which advances the timing and alters the fuel and spark maps. You cannot adjust the timing. It is ecu controlled.

When you replace the T-belt you have to make sure the valve timing is dead on by lining up the cam gears etc...once this is done the ecu controls the ignition timing of the vehicle when its running. No other adjustments are needed. I fyou just replaced the belt and the car is running bad you may want to recheck the valve timing.

...nuhh man.. the cams are dead on..everything lined up.... i checked .... ive done this more then once before ... but never thought to time it with a light..
but then I read all these threads about clippin the service plug... and timing it like that more precisely.. but i guess thats for OBD1?? then... cuz I timed OBD1 without clippin the service plug.....im confused...

why would you clip the plug then??
uhh..

but thanks for tryin to clear it up for me cb7-R....
