Default Wheel/Tire/Springs on 07 SI Sedan

Hey now - First I just want to say that I've never done anything to a stock car in my life. Bought an 07 SI black sedan last weekend. Took off the badges on the back, the side logos and dealer installed pin striping. Not planning on doing any performance upgrades other than wheels, tires and springs. Remember, I know nothing about tires other than I've always just replaced with the same size that came with the car.

This is what I'm looking at:

18x7.5 SSR Professor SP1 Black w/Anodized Lip

Sumitomo HTR+ 225/40ZR18

Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set

Am I looking at any problems here? Rubbing or stock shock problems? How well do you think this setup will suit me. How do you think these will look?

Before I drop $1,875 I thought I'd get opinions.

Other than the tires you should be fine. Type X ran those exact same wheels on his Si with Comptech springs and had no problems, the pro-kit is basically the same thing as the comptech setup. The tires you have chosen aren't any good though, I would definitely pick something else.

My professors were 17x8 49mm on 225/45/17 nitto neo gens

To the OP ,

You MIGHT rub with that setup, i dunno anyone with the eibach springs & that rim/tire combo

closest you could check is if someone with the Eibachs is running HFP wheels
and even then... the HFP 18's are 7" wide .....

btw.... shop around on those
there was a guy selling his 18" professors on clubrsx for less and i was only looking for 1200ish for mine with brand new rubber in 17"

Thanks for the info.

I have an opportunity to pick up the SSR PROFESSOR SP1s in 17X7 5X114 42MM dirt cheep. For a fraction of the cost of the 18x7.5's. About 1/3rd the price.

I am assuming with this size that I should have no problems with the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set? I see that the Pro-Kit has an avg low of 1.2"F 1.0"R. With these size tires would I be able to go with the Eibach Sportline Spring Set which has an avg low of 1.4"F 1.4"R? Would I even want to? I don't want to be bottoming out.

I've read conflicting threads on this too. I've read that using lowering springs wear out the stock shocks in about 10K miles and I've also read that that is BS. I can't find a definite answer on that one. Like I said earlier. I've never replaced stock anything on a car before. I just want this car to look good. I am happy with the way it performs now and don't want to be replacing shocks every 10K or 15K miles. But I think it would look good a little lower.

Thanks,

DS

Sounds like ROTA D2's......

there is a big difference those "ebay auctions" with have the SSR logo pictured and SSR PROFESSOR in the titles/description etc but they are fake crap.

Depends on your local roads/driving habits

Thank you. Thank you.

I called and specifically asked and he confirmed.

He told me that he said he was selling SSR Professor SP1 "STYLE" rims. Not SSR Professor SP1 rims. FU to craigslist scamers.

And thank you for the heads up. I'll figure this out one way or another.

One more question. Re: offset and rubbing

I've decided I'm not going to drop the car. This is my daily driver and Im commuting 500 miles a week. I'm just going to go with wheels.

The 18x8 wheels I'm looking at come in 35mm and 48mm offsets. First, I should have no problems at all with rubbing these size tires if I don't drop, right? And second, I was going to order the 48mm offset but wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake in some way.

Thanks again for everyones help.

OK. One more question and I promise I'll stop beating this dead horse.

I'm just dropping $1K+ tonight online and I want to make sure here.

I can't decide if I want to go with 18X8 with no drop or 17X17.5 with the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set. This is assuming that I will have no rubbing issues with either choice. If either will work with no problem, which do you think would look better?

And which offset to go with? 35mm or 48mm? I am assuming 48mm?

I'm gonna pull the trigger tonight. Most money I've ever spent on a car other than the car itself.
