I have a question my second gear is grinding badly my car is an early model S2000 and I heard there is a TSB on it. My car though is almost 7 years old! and it has 67,000 miles? Should I even bother taking it to the dealership?

sure if you want to. its not harming performance but if its a big enough annoyance, you can get it fixed.

 

For me its harming the performance its loud and obnoxious.

Will they care if the car is almost 7 years old though?

 

they dont care as long as you got money to pay for it, since theyre not doing it for free cause ur not under warranty

 

sorry but loud and obnoxious doesn't constitute for a performance loss. If you know how to do clutches, you can do it yourself.

clutches and changing synchros are two completely different things

 

Its the clutch disk that needs to be replaced. its not the gearbox synchros.

Do you know what a TSB is? They do do it for free even if the car is out of warranty. My friend got his clutch replaced on his 75,000 mile AP1 for free. I think it came down to luck though.

I dont know the shifts are a little slower and annoying with the grinds. I cant just slam it into gears.

I have a brand new clutch I've had 2 clutch sets besides OEM on my car. Its always grinded 2nd and fourth. Some times it even pops out of gear. I heard that they do replace the synchros. Can anyone confirm this?

 

no they don't always do it for free. but seriously if you get them to, to you.
