Injen's instructions suck! Noob here could use some advice.
Hey guys, well I ended up getting an Injen SRI. Thought it would be an easier install than it was.. basically the instructions are for the SRI WITH the extension piece (sold separately) to make it into a CAI. So you gotta try to figure out what you are NOT supposed to do in the instructions if you're doing the SRI alone...
Anyway, I ended up figuring it out and it seems fine, but there are a few things I want to be sure of. I'm sure this could also help any future Injen using noobs in need of help too.
In the instructions it says to remove the "vacuum tank" and disconnect the tube that connects it to the throttle body, then cap it off with the provided cap.
I assumed that this was an only necessary for the CAI seeing as it probably needs more clearance.. however, I was provided with a cap. Was I correct in leaving it in? Or is it supposed to come out? What the heck is it for anyway?
Also, the fitting seems a little more tight than I think it should be. The filter is butted up against the side of the car. I bought the heat shield for it, but there's not enough room to use it. Do I need to move the battery over?
Any help is greatly appreciated! I've already searched, and called Injen tech support (got an answering machine!).
Help me out Injen guys!

Here are the crappy instructions BTW:

Maybe one of you guys can make more sense of it.
Figures 4 and 5 are the ones in questions and correlate to step 4 in the written instructions.

you should put that cap on where you see on Figure 5 b/c you removed pretty much the stock intake... so use the cap and put it on where you see on figure 5...

x 5 lol factor
Not being able to install an intake is like not being able to cook a cup of noodles.
Seriously, take old intake off, replace with new intake, make sure that all the couplings are tightened down, cap the vacuum line that feeds back to your intake manifold and remove the resonator hardware. Done and done.

I appreciate the replies.. most of em at least.
But nobody commented on whether or not I should take out the vacuum tank.
TruNinja, did you take it out? Because unless you did, there shouldn't be anything to cap off, right?

ok, well I got it out, but there's another tube running down into the bumper area. How do I get it out? or do I just leave it there?
This image was taken straight from the instructions except what's in red.. in the red circle is what I removed as the instructions and you guys said. What I'm wondering about is the tube that the red arrow is pointing to.

i left mine in for like 3 years and just took it out recently so you can leave it in if you dont feel like taking your bumper off

Well it's been a few weeks and the car's been fine w/o the part.. thanks for all the help
I'm still curious about what that part is though. I like to know exactly what I'm doing to my car and why. Can anyone explain?

seems that way.. I've had it off for about 3 weeks now and all is good. The cap injen provided did fall off after about a week.. but a trip to autozone fixed that.
Anyway, would still like to know what the tank/box/thing was for..
