HELP differential bad or something else?
Long story short, i just bought a 97 Integra GSR and it had a blown head gasket. i fixed it and drove it maybe 5 blocks, and there was a horrible noise that sounds like loose lug nuts or something extreme. I stopped, didnt find anything wrong and tried to drive and it wouldn move, in any gear. so we pushed it home and it leaked tranny fluid from the passenger side halfshaft seal all the way home. I have the tranny open and there is nothing visibly wrong. the only thing i could find is that there is slack in the larger spider gears of the differential.(the ones that the halfshafts go into. thanks for all the help.

i have the tranny open, and the slack im talkin bout is the larger spider gears move side to side. almost like if they had bearings behind them they would be bad. but i was told there arent any bearings under them.
I think thats normal, did you check to see if the axle was pressed in all the way? Did you have to pry the axle out, or did it just slip right out? The C-clip might not of been seated. If the axle comes out (like where it was leaking) then it won't drive the wheels. Alot of times when the car won't move, people think it is the tranny, and it ends up being an axle problem.
thanx alot for the input.I came to the same conclusion earlier tonight. I don't recall having the toughest time getting the halfshaft out, and at a closer look the splines on the very end are slightly worn. thanx again.
