What should i do about the water damage to my GSRRRRRRR!!!!
So iv moved on from a 11 second LS turbo to a mostly stock GSR, i guess its the want of Vtec that did it to me lol. but anywhoo, iv built my share of hondas in the past 2 to 3 years, but i never had to deal with water damage to a B18 before... so my story begins. i bought the car for a $1000, its a 94 GSR 2-door, exterior and interior are practicly mint. never smoked in, no damage, except the motor. the motor was ran thru a decent size puddle of water. the kid tryed to continuously start the car after it shut off, and finaly wore out the distributer so there is no spark, plus he snaped the starter. so i replaced the starter and am going to replace the distriputer and wires and plugs tomorrow. the car cranks so i kno the block isnt hydrolocked. which is what i was most afraid of. now i was told that i should change the oil, and make sure all the water is out of the block, befor i attemp to start it with the new distriputer. now i took the plugs and wires out and tryed to turn the car over, the pistons shot about 4 foot streams of water out of the block when i did that lol. most of the water is out but i still need to change the oil which im told will get the rest of the water out of the bottom end.
my question is, should i be worried about anything else, like the crank or rods or pistons? most likey some of the vaulves are bent if not all of them, but the car should still start and not run that great. i just wanna make sure that everything else is relitively ok on the car, so im hoping that the only reason it wont start is b/c theres no spark.
absolutly any imput will be appreciaited on this subject. to all that reply, im very thankful.
thansk, brian

When you get it started, if you hear a loud knock from the bottom end, then you probably bent a rod. I hydro-locked my engine way back, and made the same mistake of cranking the engine. It finally started with a loud knock. I pulled the oil pan and looked up at the rods, sure enough, a rod was bent, it was totally obvious.
I swapped the rod out and had it running in 3 days. Would of been sooner, but had to wait for the machine shop to swap the piston over to my new rod. I now have 300K miles on the same motor.

nice nice, well thanks for saying that, cuz now i feel better about the whole issue, i figured the motor was salvegable, but i wasnt sure wut all i would need to do, but im hoping to have it done by the end of the weekend, i dont have to wry about taking it to a shop cuz i have everything i need to do pretty much anything to a honda lol, so machiening wont really set me back cuz i can do it hear. but thanks so much for the imput.
