Default Cooling Systems Probelms....

I just picked up a 94 prelude S with the f22a and i plan on a future h22a motor swap but till i save i got to deal....i do not think that i water pump is working in my car now...i will drive it and there is no pressure in any of the cooling hoses that run to the motor....has a aftermarket koyo or kojo radiater not sure...but the radiater is full of fluid....i sqeeze the houses after driving for awhile and i hear a little fluid moving but nothing like there should be....i do not think that it is the thermostate....any ideas?

The water pump won't create pressure in the hoses. That is a function of the coolant expanding when heated. If the radiator cap is shot, the system won't pressurize and the boiling point will be lower.

Your post also indicates you are concerned if the coolant flowing or not. If it wasn't, your engine would get hot. Are you experiencing any overheating problems or coolant loss?

The car does not overheat and does not leak fluid...the cap on the radiator does look a little shady so that might be the problem....after i drive it for awhile i take the cap off and look at the fluid level...still to the top but no pressure....the motor seems to run cool....temp guage usually get to half way but than back down to 1/4 sometimes while i am driving?? i

If you can drive it for a while and take the cap off and not get scalded... then they system isn't holding pressure. You will have a guyser if you open the system while hot.

I would check the cap also that it what causes the system to build pressure. Hopefully it is as simple as buying a new cap.
