you have to take t headlight out. Unplug the battery, Take the bumper off, all the SILVER bolts are the ones that go to your headlight. Some are hidden away, and dont look like they lead to the headlight, so they are color coded silver. Then you have to unplug everything. Bulbs, ballast, turn signals, parking lights. take the headlight completely out of the car, and put it somewhere the lens wont get scratched. Like a blanket or carpet or whatever. Then take off the tamper proof screws for the HID cover located on the back of the headlight. It is identified with warning labels saying you could kill yourself, etc. You can use a tamper proof torx bit, or vice grips also work. Then take off the safety cover. This requires either a special tool, or slight tapping with a screwdriver and hammer to untwist the cap slightly to get it loose/moving. Then untwist it the rest of the way by hand, and make sure not to take a huge chunk out of your thumb right by your nail which bleeds profusely at first then hurts for weeks.
You can now unclip the headlight bulb.
unscrew the ballast from the headlight via the four (10mm or 8 mm (cant remember))screws.
Finagling the headlight bulb out of the housing completely is a bitch. You may not need to if you've got small hands and you're just replacing the headlight bulb itself. You may also not need to uninstall the ballast. I had to because i had to put my headlight in an oven to open it up, so i took the HID/BALLAST assembly completely out.
Finagling the headlight back into the housing is a bigger bitch. Wear vinyl gloves and before you actually install and put the bulb away in the housing, make sure you wipe the bulb with some denatured alcochol (no, put the bottle of captain down) like rubbing alcohol, and a LINT FREE wiping apparatus. Like a paper towel, or some gauze.
Make sure you buy the right bulb...im not sure if its D2S i think it is...make sure its OEM and 4300k.

Is it possible to access the back of the head lamp by cutting the wheels to full lock toward the engine and removing the fender liner?

Yes. I'd say take the wheel off altogether. Saves the hassle of uninstalling/reinstalling headlights.

ehhh i think it'd be a bitch though. you're working in confined dirty spaces with an expensive, fragile bulb that was put together in a clean room lol. Not worth the risk of breaking a brand new HID bulb, i dont think. Dont be lazy, you motherf#$kers. lol.

3. remoce super small screw with the wierd torx bit.
4. remove and replace bulb.
5. put it back together.
if it takes you longer than 30 minutes, you shouldnt be working on cars.
i wish you new people wouldnt bump 5 year old threads...you shouldnt have any problem going through the fender liner, i changed both my bulbs that way
At first I wasn't sure if B Serious was actually serious...then I saw the post date..
I guess that was the mentality back then? Soooooo much easier just to turn your wheel to the side and unclip part of the wheel well liner..

There is nothing wrong with bumping an old technical thread to thank someone, it shows that people are searching instead of making repeat threads. Also, it's nice to show appreciation to those who go out of there way to share technical information.
