dohc/sohc engine and gear box
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am still getting used to it so pls forgive me if I make any mistakes.
I drive a 91 Honda ballade 150, carb, 16v sohc.

All I have done so far is put on some 15s and a 40mm drop spring set.
The pic is without the springs.
I am hoping to find out if I am able to put a dohc engine in on my current gear box.
I have the work shop manual and it seems that both engines have the same gearbox?
Can anyone pls advice?
thanks

the DOHC ZC, D16A8, D16A9, D16Z5 engines all use the same transmission as your SOHC engine - since your car is carbed, you will have some fuel system issues to deal with when swapping to a fuel injected DOHC engine, as well as some wiring issues - it would be simpler to run carbs on the DOHC engine
thanks for the reply and info
I am planing to install a Gotech ecu and installing senors much later on....
I am hoping my carb intake manifold will fit on the ZC head but i am unsure of that...
If it wont fit I think I will get one made and put on webers as this will be cheeper and quicker then installing FI.
I do have a much older ZC top end almost compleate but the flanges dont match with any other Honda head I have seen.

</TD></TR></TABLE>the DOHC ZC intake manifold is completely different from the SOHC manifolds - we use a TWM intake manifold with the Weber DCOE carbs

I think I'm going to save this to show to anybody on here that says the DOHC ZC is not a buildable or worthwhile engine. Great setup jlicrx.

Looks like I am taking this route. I am swoping my turbo for 2 x 40mm side draft webers.
Do I need a high pressure fuel pump for them?
As for the intake manifold I would have to get one made here...
What kind of power can I expect?

in need of a clean..
I will be getthing the dohc engine soon.
and then the intake manifold...
I will be getting a 3-5 psi fuel pump.
any more advice?

Iccy, if you want jlicrx's advice (he's great with ZCs), I suggest signing up at http://www.thezcr.com, he's over there more than H-T it seems. Also, his website: http://www.zcspeed.com.
