Shifter feels mushy how to fix?

Shifter feels mushy how to fix?
Im not sure what happened but all of a sudden my my shifter has extra play in it when its in gear.. its a stock shifter
how can i fix this? I know new bushings are an option but the change seems to havebeen abrupt so i dont think it is solely the bushings
