Default Rear Trailing Arm Bushing X-Tractor??????

I have a 90 Civic sedan and the rear trailing arm bushings are shot. Does anyone have the tool that pushes them out and then assists in pushing them back in? I'd pay ya to let me use it and would give a deposit. I found one on eBay for like $134 but hate to pay that for something I'll only use once. But considering the trailing arms cost like $200+ for each side new, I may have to. Thanks for any help!

You can just take em to a carquest/napa, any of those places with machine shops and have them press the old ones out and the new ones in.

That is all well and good but then you have to take them off the car. This tool he is talking about allows you to keep everything on the car and replace them.

After having read the procedure laid out by one of our great members on how to do this and seeing the caution about taking them to a place and them not clocking them into the right place, I'm a little leary about taking them to a shop. If someone had that tool so they could be done on the car, that would also save a ton of time and hassle. I may wind up having to buy it off of eBay is somebody doesn't have one they'd rent me.

I know a good shop in Charlotte that can do then for you but they will have to come off the car. A competent shop should be able to do it for you.

i bought the pricey tool and it is a lifesaver. yes it costs, but it is a quality item and it works flawlessly. i replaced the TA bushings on my 90 hatch and let me tell you, the car feels like an entirely different car now. the rear is actually solid now!
about the "clocking" -- it is my experience and opinion that the person putting the bushings in would have to be quite incompetent to screw it up.

How much would you want to rent it to me? Not sure what the shipping would be both ways. I'd hate to wind up spending what it would cost me to buy a new one if you know what I mean. Thanks for offering to let me use it.

i figure $30 total cost to you plus return shipping: So...
1) you send me $200
2) i send you tool
3) you use it
4) send it back to me
5) i refund $170 to you

That's reasonable to me. How do you want to take care of the money process? Thanks for your willingness to help!

KFB, I'd really like to borrow this tool too, and can send a deposit whenever it is available next. Frank.

I want second dibs! I'm still a new user so the IM thing doesn't work yet. I have a new set of TA bushings just waiting to be installed. I'd be happy to pay the deposit and whatnot. Just let me know when the tool is free again. Thanks!
