Default O Ring on Water pump thermostat piping

so Im tryin to put the piping in with the oring that looks way to bit for it which it was the original i was going to go with another but figured it wouldn'y seal correctly well I get it part ly in and shove the rest in but a piece was sticking out and I think the ring broke but I manged to get it in will I have leaking issues or will I be fine because the ring managed to get in the with minimal damage

It might. I've slightly folded an o-ring before and it started leaking coolant when I filled the cooling system.

Lube the o-ring with oil and it'll slip into the bore a little easier.
