Default H22 compression, really low. Blowing smoke, say goodbye?

so i got a car for a pretty good deal 'non running' and then i was trying to get it fixed. its an h22a in a 96 civic.

it stalls out and the blows some whitish smoke with some black particles liek its burning oil/fuel too.

the compression ran at around 130 across, i am going to the shop tommorrow to talk with the dudes, but they said i should be thinking about a new h22 swap (for $1500 installed they say)

is this agreeable to you all? they say the piston rings/seals are probably shot, this is (was) a build engine. suggestions? not sure i wanna get an entire new swap, this car already caused me a a big headache.

pull the head, survey the damage. it could just be the head gasket, maybe just rings. replacing those could cost $1000, so you could be better off just replacing it for 1500.

damn, i guess a new h22 is coming my way then =[ it could be worst, 1500 is not that bad.

would you all recommend JDM or USDM? also any dealers who you would buy a engine from? thx

Sounds like you need some new valves....You could just buy a whole different motor for about that price or even cheaper and drop it in...

hey altered creations.

let me give you some more info on the engine before you want to get involved.

its a h22 bored to 2.4l with eagle rod pistons with 12.5:1 ratio, ran on pump gas still. it was running fin, then now it has really bad compression (between 120-130) so im prol gunna do a stock h22 like i said, and ill pretty much take any offer for the old one. do you want intake and header too or just the engine?

better talk to me direct cmorera2(at)yahoo.com
