Need Advice quick on buying this del sol. HELP please!
This guy is selling a 97 del sol with 281,000 miles on it. It passed the smog check and he is selling it for 1850. Should i buy it? how long does an engine usually last? The engine and the body has no problems right now? what should i do? 1850.00 seems very cheap no? Please give me advice i am previewing the car in SF in a few days thank you. I am looking for a commuter car.

when you check it, pour water around the door seal and see if they leak. 281k is alot of miles, even for a honda. Ask if it has ever been rebuilt, what kind of maintenance, etc. What model del sol is it? Price seems reasonable if the body is in great shape.
naw no leaks in the car and its a 97 the lowest model im assuming. Yea 281k is alot of miles. I think the only thing they did was maintenance like the 15k 30k etc...
make sure they changed the timing belt at least a couple times, maybe even three times. Dont assume silly, find out what model, S, Si or VTEC, it is probably the S, but if its the Si, at least it wont be a completely slow pig and will be kind of fun to drive. Find out more about the engine, but worse come to worse, you can swap a non vtec d15 for real cheap, and even a vtec single slammer would be pretty cheap.
As the other guy said, if it's in great shape that's a pretty good deal. I'd be a little weary of the mileage, but these cars do last a long time. If you got the car, you'd probably want to look into doing a rebuild (if they haven't already). You can do that yourself or pay $1000+ for a mechanic to do it.
The del Sol makes a great commuter car though. You'll enjoy those sunny days with the top off. Gas mileage on stock engine is really awesome too (better than most current day cars).

or you could swap for alot less. Dont rebuild the engine

is it a single overhead cam vtec, like the Si model with the d16z6, or the VTEC model, with the b16. Thats a pretty big difference. If its the VTEC model, then buy that ****. It would be a fun car to drive.
