Hello All;
I just got an estimate for fixing my air in 1997 accord se, 4cl, 134,00 miles, just blows warm/room temp air, not cold. Was told with Honda parts, new, would be about $1000.00 including labor. This is replacing everything. They said this was necessary.
Is this high? and do I need genuine Honda parts? This isn't a dealership,but a well respected shop that's always very busy.

Also, Having water pump, timing belt, and valve gasket replaced, for $650.00, for comparison on cost.

Just trying to find out a little info. I did look up the cost of compressors, and they vary a great deal, that's why I ask about the Honda parts being important.

no you dont NEED honda parts, you can get whatever

And what does it need? just the A/c Compressor?

You could put that in yourself easy enough

And 650 for the timing belt and water pump is about right

 

I guess my question was more like how much better/is it worth it to pay the extra for the genuine Honda parts. The AC is everything involved with it. Whole system completely new everything. Left the list of parts at work.
