Time to replace parts, need a little advice.
It is time (8 years) to replace the timing belt / water pump/etc/etc. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good take apart source and possibly instructions for this task. I have a 4dr honda civic EX with a 1.8l vtec engine (non turbo).
I would like to buy the parts and do it myself to save money. I don't care how long it might take me as I have two other vehicles.
Also, do I need any specialized tools to do this? I have a good set of tools and except for a torque wrench (which I will be buying soon), I can't think of anything I dont have that I might need. My shop is equiped with a compressor and air tools and a fairly good selection of hand tools.

You'll probably need an impact wrench - which you said that you already have access to. Other than that, all I would hope for is a lift and a set of hand tools, or maybe even air powered stuff. If you want a step-by-step, buy a ******* Helms manual. Don't just expect everyone to just tickle your ***** and tell you exactly what the hell to do. Do your own ******* homework and then once you become knowledgeable enough, then if you have a question, ask and someone will more than likely help you. You know why that is? It's because once you have figured this **** out for yourself, not only do you have an extreme sense of self-accomplishment, but you also develop independence and confidence. Those combined with experience are the most help to yourself and those around you. Sorry, I'll climb down off my soapbox now. Good luck searching in the future.

I have never done a timing belt on any vehicle by myself and I love a well written book to guide me. Thanks for the help, I will order the one from helminc.com
